The song is called "Hostis humani generis" (enemy of mankind), which is a legal term used by WHO for COVID-19. It was done very early during lockdown by myself at home. Just before it all started I moved to a new flat and I have great view to the big church in town, so there is an element of holyness to the music. Nothing to do with any religion, just the search for that feeling. Music is an important channel for me to process this whole thing.
I probably wouldn't have listened to this without the context of it being about dementia, but even without that context, this is a real work of art. The distorted big-band samples create a sound that starts out nostalgic, and becomes disturbing and confused, then fades into emptiness, but is enthralling all the way through. Stage 4 is my favorite, simultaneously defying musical logic and upholding it. Ivan Stanton
